We are proud to announce that Sensgreen has been featured in an official Raspberry Pi success story, highlighting a large-scale smart building deployment developed in collaboration with Seeed Studio and powered by Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4.
This feature showcases how Sensgreen’s edge-based AI platform enables real-time indoor air quality (IAQ) analytics and automated HVAC control in complex building environments, without relying on cloud infrastructure.
Solving Real-World Smart Building Challenges
Modern commercial buildings often operate on legacy building management systems that lack real-time environmental intelligence. In many cases, cloud-based solutions are not feasible due to strict requirements around latency, reliability, and uptime. These constraints make it difficult to continuously monitor indoor air quality and respond dynamically to changing conditions.
Sensgreen addresses this challenge by bringing AI-powered analytics directly to the edge, enabling local data processing and immediate decision-making where it matters most.
Edge AI Powered by Raspberry Pi
In the featured project, Sensgreen’s containerised AI analytics engine runs on Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, deployed through Seeed Studio’s reComputer R1000. This architecture allows indoor air quality data to be processed locally in real time, ensuring fast response times and uninterrupted operation.
By leveraging Raspberry Pi’s low-power, compact, and highly flexible platform, Sensgreen delivers a solution that is both scalable and reliable, even in environments with strict operational requirements.
Measurable Impact at Scale
The deployed system monitors more than 30 distinct zones, analysing parameters such as CO₂ levels, humidity, particulate matter, and volatile organic compounds. These insights directly inform HVAC operations, improving occupant comfort while reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
Operating fully without cloud dependency, the solution demonstrates how edge intelligence can support healthier indoor environments, operational efficiency, and sustainability goals at scale.
